Cast chosen for APAC’s ‘A Christmas Carol’

Susie Burke has created an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” for the Aloha Performing Arts Company. Last season, Burke adapted Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” for APAC. “A Christmas Carol” will be performed in December at the Aloha Theatre in Kainaliu. Casting is complete and rehearsals are under way.

The role of Ebenezer Scrooge will be portrayed by Don Chinery. The ghost of Jacob Marley, Scrooge’s deceased partner, will be played by John Holliday. Taylor Bodway, Eric Lammerman and Miles Lugo will play the spirits of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Yet To Come, respectively. Lammerman also appears as Will Fern in the play’s prologue; Lugo also plays Isabelle’s husband. Robb Dahlke will be Bob Cratchit; Marie-anne Rouse plays his wife, Molly. Their children include Martha, played by Sarah Rouse; Belinda, played by Sonya Becker; twins, played by Patrick Riehle and Maddy Braml and Tiny Tim, played by Henry Bergey.

Other cast members include Paula Cornwell and Joel Michaelson as Mr. and Mrs. Fezziwig, Simon Ellis as Young Scrooge, Felicity Johnson as Mrs. Dilber, Cathy Riehle as the Rag Dealer, Mia Kriebl-Bruno as Isabelle, Oliver Kriebl-Bruno as Dick Wilkins and Bob Bartow as the Urchin. Nora Frank and Tia Amafala will alternate in the roles of Fredericka and the Guest, and Ricky Delorey II will fill the role of Charles Dickens, who serves as narrator.

A chorus of Londoners includes Joie Agard, Minami Asbjornson, Sarah Bellatti, Kristen Cole-Porter, Richard Gray, Kylee Hamar, Ruby Jordan, Zea Levine, Halia Locke-Nascimento, Taylin Mandaguit, Renee Monell, Alisha Nazara, Scott Pierce, Malia Shimabuku, Justyn Toyama, Laurie Wilson, Tiana Yeaman, and the entire Riley family: Regan, Tanner, Keaton, Bryan and Tara.

“A Christmas Carol” will be presented Dec. 7 through 23. Friday and Saturday shows start at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees begin at 2:30 p.m. Felicity Johnson is producing; Jerry Tracy is the director, assisted by Mia Kriebl-Bruno. Designers include Ariana Bassett, set; Paula Cornwell, costumes; Laurie Wilson, props and set dressing; DK Place, sound; Cathy Riehle, hair and makeup; Sam Valenti, program; Mack Powell, logo artwork; Gerald Lucena, puppets; and Bob Gage, lighting. Karen Barry is the music director, with Renee Monell contributing choreography. Stage manager is Peter Schonberg and house manager is Cameron Bailey-Bram.
